Elaine Batcher
A long time ago, in a kingdom far away, Elaine Batcher BA MEd PhD earned three degrees and used them in her teaching, in her research and writing, and in her everyday life. Her dissertation, Emotion in the Classroom; A Study of Children’s Experience, was published by Praeger, then issued by Greenwood, and for some time all her writings were theoretical–in education and women’s studies. Some of these still pop up on the web. There is nothing lost in the universe!
Through teaching, research and motherhood, Elaine has worked at every level of the education system and remembers her students fondly. She is happy whenever she meets them again, and pleased to know they’ve grown into wonderful adults, just as she hoped. Her children, of course, have opened up the future to all possibilities, and this pleases her immeasurably.
Elaine’s current writings are mostly short stories and poetry, and many of her pieces have appeared in Canadian and American journals, and online.
Get This, her newest work, is a hand-built chapbook of poems and poetic puzzles. It has been in production for many months, and is a true labour of love–so much so that other special chapbooks are planned.
Elaine lives in Toronto with her husband Ted. Their children, Russell and Gillian, are all grown up and happily pursuing productive lives of their own.
